Artist Statement:
The process of designing and selecting glass is as enjoyable to me as the actual hands-on experience of scoring and breaking glass, grinding, foiling, soldering, and finally seeing the end result when picking up the finished piece and letting the light do its magic. My work reflects my love for interesting textures, color mixes and movement enhanced by bold organic lines. I incorporate agates, crystals, glass globs, bevels, copper and other found objects for interest and special effects. While many of my designs are playful abstracts inspired by a unique piece of art glass, others try to capture the beauty of nature surrounding us in Colorado. Using the copper foil technique allows me to keep my artwork lightweight and delicate. I also strive to use fusing, slumping, painting and etching techniques in some of my art projects.
