Festival Coordinator: Julia L. Wright
Julia has been a member of the Commonwheel Artists Co-op since 1976. She attended the first art festival as an artist in 1975, then joined moved to Manitou Springs and joined Commonwheel that following January. She coordinated the Commonwheel Art Festival from 1976-2001 and returned to this position for the 2005 Art Festival. She began her art career in theatre in 1969 designing sets and directing shows. Fiber arts became her focus after graduating from UNC, starting with macramé, then added off-loom weaving, marbling cloth and working with feathers. Her feather masks and jewelry can be seen at www.FantaFaces.com and Commonwheel Artists Co-op. She has authored and published more than 25 books and has helped other authors publish. Find her books at: HieroGraphicsBooksLLC.com. She will be showing her abstract transformational nature photography, many of her books, and perhaps some feathery art at this year’s art festival. As a member of Commonwheel Artists Co-op, the Manitou Springs Art Council and an artist she has been an active participant in bringing fine art and crafts to the Pikes Peak Region since 1976. |
