Hi there , my name is Patti Paiz -Jones.

I'm excited and grateful to be part of the Common Wheel family of participating artists. My journey with pottery started early in high school.  In all truth, ceramics and an awesome art teacher saved me through high school. I went on to study art at the University of Northern Colorado where I received an art education degree with an emphasis in ceramics.

Again I had amazing ceramic teachers in both Dr. Herb Schumaker and Professor Dik Luster. Throughout my thirty six years of teaching I had the good fortune to work with students grades 1-12.

The  last ten years teaching,  I worked with high school students in ceramics and sculpture, truly making my career run  full circle. That experience solidified my desire to make pottery.

As a  recently retired as an art educator,  I am focused on making my own art making and have been doing business as Silver Mountain Pottery.   I work with mid range clay bodies and glazes. The possibility of exploration found in ceramics is  unlimited, and for that reason I continue to try new techniques both in wheel throwing and hand building. I also find myself equally interested in both functional ceramics and sculptural forms.I look for ways to combine these two aspects in my work.

You can also  find my at Crafted in Colorado in La Veta, Colorado and TS Design in Eaton, Colorado .
