true colors of nature

Picture

Our next gallery show features original paintings by Colorado artist Ramona Macy. "True Colors of Nature", opens October 2nd at Commonwheel.

Ramona Macy is an artist living in Woodland Park, Colorado. After a 30-year career in the Air Force, Macy traded in her combat boots for a paint brush. A second-generation pastel artist, Macy has been a student of Pegi Ballenger and is an associate member of Pikes Peaks Pastel Society. Inspired by the majestic beauty surrounding her, Macy has an affinity for landscapes, interpreting them using bold, brilliant colors that melt into one another.

Her works have been described as capturing the true essence of the subject, be it a nude or a stand of aspen trees. While her style leans toward the abstract, Macy never leaves reality too far behind. Her perspective is one of fluidity and movement without the weight of too much detail. Macy is always expanding herself, developing and discovering new techniques and using them in fresh and exciting ways.

While she prefers pastels and watercolors, her next step as an artist is to learn photography, so that every moment of inspiration can be captured.
