    Artist’s Statement

Nature and Creativity uplift the soul. The challenge is to experience the sublime in both the ancient and the fleeting, the natural and what has been touched by humans. When I create a painting, I can’t help but get a detailed sense of the subject. My goal is to share those moments of epiphany and to inspire the viewer to take a closer look also at the astonishing beauty and diversity around us all.

My journey as an artist has taken me to culturally and geographically diverse places all around the world. I am from the Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas but have also lived in Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma and Malawi, a small country in South Central Africa. While there, I was a part of an international women’s art group that supported each others artistic growth and provided opportunities for Malawian artists. I eventually returned to the United States, taught art and retired just before Covid hit. For the next two years, my husband, three cats and I traveled in our small RV, experiencing other parts of our country while working in public parks. I am now fortunate to be living in Colorado and finding a multitude of inspiration for creative work and adventures.
