Monument Moon Studio

PictureFrank & Ginny Maiolo
Monument Moon Studios jewelry is entirely hand crafted by artisans Frank & Ginny Maiolo in their studio in Colorado. Using only sterling silver, copper and natural gemstones we transform our ideas into wearable works of art. We specialize in pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings all of which are a one-of-a-kind beauty. We also have a full line of handmade Camino de Santiago jewelry.

This hand carved Alaskan moose bone skull is set in sterling silver and hangs on a black natural leather cord with sterling silver tips. The stainless steel tension bolo back will not mar or fray the leather and will last a lifetime. I don't make a lot of bolo's but this one turned out really cool! The piece measures approximately 2 3/4" x 1 1/2" and the cord length is approximately 37". Memento Mori,” or translated in English, “Remember you must die.” The point of this reminder isn’t to be morbid or promote fear, but to inspire, motivate and clarify. The idea has been central to art, philosophy, literature, architecture, and more throughout history. As Socrates says in Plato’s Phaedo, “The one aim of those who practice philosophy in the proper manner is to practice for dying and death.”

This piece is from the new “Fabulous and Funky” series using dichroic glass (made by the amazing Kathleen Krucoff) and natural gemstones. “Baby Blue” is dichroic glass set in sterling silver with a natural black onyx gemstone. The filigree and texture add to the detail of this exquisite piece. The 20” SS chain incorporates turquoise and black onyx beads and has a magnetic clasp for easy on and off.
