Commonwheel Artists Co-op is a collective business owned and run by our 35 member artists. With the Waldo Canyon Fire and the floods of 2013 we spent a lot of time in 2014 talking as a co-op about our future. One of the things to come out of those talks is this gallery show.
William, one of our quieter members, commented that we needed to have more fun with our art. That resonated with the rest of us, so while continuing to do the work that we sell through Commonwheel, many of us are having some fun, expanding and playing with our art.
Some of the fun things you’ll see are paintings by jewelers, photography by a sculptor, botanical work by a fiber artist, and beaded work by a metal smith. There will be new glaze experiments by potters, and a variety of techniques and work styles that have sparked our interest and imagination.
In addition to this gallery show (which begins with an Artist’s Reception on Friday night) we will be taking part in the October Art Walk Weekend in Manitou Springs. Our members will be offering demonstrations of their process on Saturday and Sunday. Additional information will be coming regarding times and locations for these demonstrations.
