Artist Statement:
I'm a native of Colorado Springs and 38 year Manitou resident. I've been a jewelry artist for more than 30 years and am primarily self taught. I began with simple seed bead projects in the early 1980‘s and over the years progressed to designing and selling my own unique concept beaded pieces. Besides local galleries, my work has shown / sold in Columbia, MO and Sedona, AZ. In addition, it has been featured in Beading Daily and Bead and Button magazines, including a 3 page feature project in the October 2009 edition of Bead and Button. I've taught beading classes locally as well as internationally as a goodwill ambassador for a poverty program in central Turkey. In 2010 I began experimenting and fell in love with mixed metal cold connections. I work primarily in copper and brass with accents of pewter, silver, niobium, iron, and any other fun metals I can find. I love vintage brass and copper pieces, and often incorporate them in my work. I have a strong interest in the variety of methods available to color metal and play with inks, colored pencils, torch firing, patinas, guilder's paste, crayons, markers, enamels and any other techniques that strike my fancy! I love the mixture of metals, shapes, and designs that cold connections and fold forming have to offer. After years of working meticulous tiny beadwork, I am loving the freedom of expression that metal has to offer. I also have a life-long love of colored stones. As a child I always collected “pretty rocks” that I found as I wandered around my neighborhood. Now I love selecting just the right stone beads to go with my metal pendants. All of my work is guaranteed. Please contact me if you have a problem with it and we'll see if we can work out a mutually agreeable solution. |
