Wood artists take beetle killed trees to cut and form into handsome dining tables or cutting boards. Old wood mixed with found objects becomes a home for birds. 6. Potters and Sculptors at Commonwheel Art Festival 2016
Artists Labor Day Weekend Art Festival on September 3, 4 & 5, 2016 showcases potters and sculptors who transform raw materials into functional and decorative pieces of art. Potters take a lump of clay and mold it on a wheel or hand shape it into beautiful pieces to use for cooking in, dining on or serving food to friends and family. They turn everyday meals into something special. Other potters sculpt clay into whimsical creatures or vases to hold flowers all year round. Hand painted pottery forms can be hung on a wall to enjoy their beauty for many years. Woodcrafters use simple hand tools to carve or power tools to transform beautiful pieces of new or dead wood into vases, tables, cutting boards or amazing sculptures. Discarded bits of rusty metal, old tools and other found objects are welded together create sculptures that stand-alone or hang on the wall. Two will never look the same. One artist transforms metal into large chimes. Each one has a different sound.
